Benign Mucocele of the Vermiform Appendix

Abstract
|

|
The primary enraptured benign appendiceal mucocele is a rare disease and very difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Usually, it is discovered incidentally in exploratory laparotomy for other disease.
We have recently experienced a case of benign appendiceal mucocele of a 42 year old pregnant patient during Cesarean section.
Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of benign appendiceal mucocele due to obstruction of the appendiceal lumen secondary to sub acute inflammation.
The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on postoperative 7th day.
